Note from the Manager

Review of the Full Proposals submitted as Stage 2 of the SIEF Research Projects (Round 4) selection process is now complete and the outcomes will be announced shortly. The Stage 2 review process included a face-to-face interview between the SIEF Expert Panel and the key proponents from each submission.  In general, the  Expressions of Interest (EOIs) submitted were of a very high standard in Round 4 and this standard flowed through to the Stage 2 submissions. The SIEF Advisory Council, Expert Panel and Management would like to thank all those associated with the submissions for the time and effort involved in preparing the Full Proposals.

A brief description of all Research Projects supported by SIEF is available on the What has been funded SIEF webpage.

AIBL2 Project

The Australian Imaging, Biomarker & Lifestyle Flagship Study of Ageing (AIBL) is a study to discover which biomarkers, cognitive characteristics, and health and lifestyle factors determine subsequent development of symptomatic Alzheimer’s Disease (AD).

BrainBrain

A collaboration between CSIRO, the National Ageing Research Institute, Austin Health, Edith Cowan University and the Mental Health Research Institute, are working together to identify those at risk for AD and hope to develop blood-based screening approaches, as well as interventions to delay disease onset.
